Before I begin to describe this problem, I would like to apologize if this thread is in the wrong section.
I do realize this section of the forum is for "problems that are not program-specific", but I think the problem is another program running Firefox and causing it to act this way.
The problem:
Firefox is running on its own and acting like a popup. When I left the computer for 15 minutes, I came back to a screen covered with stacked Firefox windows. Looking in the TaskManager, I saw that Firefox.exe was taking up ~149,000K memory usage.
This happens very randomly, but quite often. Once, it happened about four times in 5 minutes. I don't think it is a popup however, for the Firefox windows all display my homepage.
What I did to temporarily disable it:
I've scanned my computer with AdAware. I cannot scan it with TrendMicro for some reason.
I use ZoneAlarm Security Suite. I changed the setting to "ASK" on ZA for Firefox.exe. So anytime this problem turns up again, ZA would ask if I would allow Firefox to run. I press "Deny" twice, and a Firefox window pops up and displays "Unable to find server".
Sometimes, however, firefox still runs (more than one window). All windows still display "Unable to find server" (thanks to ZA). When this happens, I go into the TaskManager to terminate the entire process.
I've disabled the program from running using ZoneAlarm. (I chose "KILL" on the settings for this program). This is what I am using to prevent this problem from happening... But I still need to use Firefox.
--------
Edit:
I've noticed this problem also affects Internet Explorer!
It does not run IE on random, but while I am using IE, it sometimes loads my homepage (about ten times or so) in the same window.
Please help
