Hi. I previously had in my system a matched pair of 512 MB Crucial Ballistix PC3200 dimms on an ASUS A8n sli deluxe. One of them crapped out. I've just bought another matched pair and a single module to bring the total up to two gigs. The system now tells me I have these running in single channel only. As far as I know, all four modules are exactly the same spec, manufacturer, etc. If I run only the two new dimms it's dual channel fun. Any suggestions? Cheers.

Check your owners manual to be sure they are in the correct slot. My PC has 3 slots for the RAM but the correct slot have to be used. I only have two of them is use.

Do the two off them run in Dual Channel or Single channel? The new matched pair should be fine but maybe the one old one and one new one are not fully compatible. Some AMD systems have trouble running 4 modules, especially if they are double sided.

Yeah buf, I've used all 4 slots in the correct order. Triple 6, the new modules work fine in slots 1 and 3. Dual channel but, when I add the other two dimms it reverts back to single channel

Pull the 2nd chip of the two that work fine in 1 and 3 and then try replacing the chip with first one and then the other odd chips and see if all 4 will run dual channel as long as 1 and 3 are used without 2 and 4. Whew, confusing to type.

EDIT: To clarify I'm saying run only slots 1 and 3 but this will test all 4 chips for dual channel capability which I don't see you've done above.

Thanks for the tip griffinspc. sure enough the older dimm and the new odd one won't function in dual channel when in slots 1 and 3. It's the same Crucial ram, same specs etc. Must be some other difference. Think I'll email Crucial and see what the craic is. Cheers.
