This is so weird.

I go to Run and type CMD enter. You get the dos window right?

Ok, now I type ipconfig. I get a message saying 'ipconfig is not
recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch
file.'.

So I try several other commands and all give me the same error message.

Is there something wrong with my windows 2000 install? Missing files? Any ideas at all? I actually called someone who knows about these things and he didn't have a clue. Thanks.

Your path statement is probably messed up. Go to the command prompt and do a cd winnt\system32 and then try your DOS commands.

Goto start => run => type cmd => enter/ok => type path => press enter
(Note: If this command doesn't work, just follow the steps below to check your path under Environment Variables)

If your path doesn't look like this:

C:\Windows\System32\;C:\Windows\;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem

1- Then right click on my computer
2- Click properties
3- Click advanced tab
4- Click environment variables button
5- In the bottom window that says 'system variables' highlight PATH
6- Click edit
7- Copy/paste above path line
8- Click Ok
9- Click Ok
10- Reboot and try your programs again
