Running Windows XP: On every boot-up, system hangs and I get message: "Devices or applications disabled. DirectCD will cause Windows to become unstable. Windows has prevented these drivers from loading. Click here for more details." Clicking "here" allows bootup to proceed and leads me to Roxio website to get a new updated driver for DirectCD but endless searching there is fruitless. I'd like to remove the incompatible driver(s) but cannot identify or locate them to delete them. I need advice on how to remove the offending driver(s). It has been suggested I go to control panel, add-remove programs, and remove EasyCD or DirectCD. Neither appears there so this won't work.

For a quick fix you can remove it from the startup, but it wont fix it, it will simply bypass it.

You need to remove Roxio's software. This is usually bundled with DVD burning or CD-Burning ROMS and it is not required because windows xp has a nice burning software installed (ironically built by the same company ROXIO)

Go to add/remove programs and uninstall EASYCD or DirectCD.
