I have recently formatted my laptop. Loaded everything back up, connected to my wireless high speed internet connection. Everything works great, loads fast, except the first time I click IE to access the web. The first page, no matter what it is, takes 10 to 20 seconds to load, where every page from there on takes less than a second. It sits at the "Detecting Proxy Settings". I don't think it's my Internet Explorer because the settings seem to be right, and I even updated from 6.0 to 7.0. Same thing happens when I try opening a new window as well. Any help is much appriciated. Thank you.

I had a similar issue, Windows XP automatically coordinated my internet connection, but I kept having issues until I ran the Network Setup Wizard, picked a name for my wireless network, set it to "This computer connects to the internet through a residential gateway or through another computer on the network." and rebooted the system.

It's a fix. Thanks a lot guys. The "untick" method worked. Now I have nothing checked and it loads right up.

I am new to the computer forums. Spent a lot of time on my car forum, but never thought about doing this until recently. This seems to always be the best way to go for anything.

Thanks again, I appriciate the help. And I'll be back next time!
