Is there a wireless network adapter in the desktop?

Solved: Desktop on Wireless internet
Well, I'm a huge noob when it comes to this sort of stuff, so please forgive me if I leave out some information...
I have a wireless router for my laptop downstairs (there's about 5 laptops in our house, and all can connect to the wireless internet without any post preparation)
I just bought a desktop, but the wireless router in our house (or any other wireless connection, for that matter) does not show up when I try to connect to the internet. What am I doing wrong?
Again, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this stuff, so if I'm missing any details, just tell me and I'll try to fill you in.
