What IP address is she trying to connect to?
[SOLVED] comm port problem
Hey folks,
Back again with another stumper. Working on a friend's computer. Old laptop running Windows 98SE. Problem is this. One of her software apps needs to connect to an IP. It tries to connect, fails and gets an error opening comm port. Now here's the trick. This is happening while she is connected to the LAN. (cable internet) All other internet programs run fine. However, if she uses her dial-up connection, then tries to connect to the same IP address, no problems, no errors. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Problem solved. Turns out it was a problem with the office network. Hence it working with dial-up. Should have guessed. Thanks anyway.
