I keep getting a message that I have a messed up file and to run chkdsk. How do I run chkdsk. When I turn the computer on I get the blue screen saying that chkdsk has been cancelled. I'm running windows XP home addition. Any help is appreciated.

You need to be logged onto an account that has administrator privileges. Open a command prompt (Start > Run > type: cmd). At the prompt type: chkdsk /f

If windows decides to run chkdsk at next boot, restart windows.
