I installed the free trial of norton system works premere 2006
during my free trial i used one of the extra settings or one of the add on programs that allow you to change some of windows hidden settings I used it to set the cache (or page file not sure which one it was) to dump when windows shuts down I like how much faster it helps windows to load but when im doing updates or needing to shut down to add or remove hardware It can take as long as 20 min to restart

I have contacted norton and they swear its a windows problem and for me to contact micrsoft Microsoft wouldnt help me because it was a setting changed by norton
and the only way for me to reinstall norton to remove it is by paying for it !!!!!!!!!!!! I would reformat before i would do that . I think it's probably just a registry entry but I have no idea where to look . If anyone has any ideas where to check i'd very much appreciate the help.

I'm running Windoze XP (EMachine-gateway version) SP2 -completely updated (Microsoft should put a stop to these companies degrading thier software)
Computer Associates AntiVirus w/SBC Yahoo internet protection (Free w/My DSL serviice)!!!!!!AND I'VE YET TO GET ANY VIRUS!!!!!!!!

Windows XP Professional contains the Group Policy Editor which can be used to alter settings. One security option allows the page file to be cleared at system shutdown. When enabled, this same setting forces wiping of the hibernation file. Both of these processes can be lengthy, fooling the user into thinking shutdown has hung. To verify if this setting has been enabled (it has to be set manually), perform the steps listed.

[Start] [Run] and type [gpedit.msc] then click [OK]
Drill down to [Computer Configuration] [Windows Settings] [Security Settings] [Local Policies] [Security Options]
Verify the proper setting in the right pane under [Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory Pagefile]
