no problem.

All errors are this:

Ok...got it. I m going to look around and see what I can find on those. That could take some time.
ok do you think its worth me taking it to a shop tomorrow? save you looking
Nothing useful there or so much information I am missing it...Try a repair.
goto start...run and paste the following in the box...hit ok...hit Y for yes and restart. Let it run and see if it runs better after the scan.

Chkdsk /f
I ll be around all day.
ok ive done that there is some change in that the system process now jumps in CPU usage although theres no difference in actually using the PC still slow, hangs etc
Ok Elute,,,Im fairly sure we here can help you get it fixed if you have the time. Sometimes its just hit or miss untile we find something.
I have to head out for about an hour, when I get back I am going to review the whole thread. And to Someone else may have an idea.
3:45pm here.
ok thanks for all your help. 20.48 here
This is another thread from a poster with a similar problem.

It may be worthwhile checking that there are no loose cables inside.
Also check Device Manager in regard to PIO vs DMA and also check that there are no devices in error.

I would also go into Event Viewer (start > Run > EVENTVWR.msc) and clear out old logs. Click on System, right mouse, clear all events. Same with Application.

If Windows is actually logging these errors, you should see them show up relatively quickly.
cleared the logs and no devices are in error how do i check PIO and DMA
Go to my computer,,,click system icon,,,,hardware,,,,device manager,,,,click the + beside IDE,,,,click the primary,,,click advanced settings.
Did what whitphill said and opened it up and everything was fine but i did not plug the printer usb cable in now everything works perfectly! so i can safely say the printer is the problem.
Great....try removing and reinstalling the printer. (need direction?)

Whitphil knew it was a hardware issue....I wonder how he knew that :)
Im ok to do the printer. Thanks for all your help!

do i mark this as solved now?
Yup, that would be nice.
Thanks for your help and time everyone!
I did nt do anything lol...all I did was keep you encouraged. Whitphil does work in contrast to me.

Glad you got it figured out.
well thanks for the encouragement
Yes, thanks for keeping the thoughts going on this.

All of the threads that I found were pointing to a hardware issue, but no "magic" way to figure out which one.

I'm glad you decided to yank the USB cable on the printer. :)

And, thanks for staying with us through all of this!
