Hi, I have just shut down my PC and restarted... he same static soise seems to continue to run, thru my spkrs. Aside from annoying it comes thru when I am trying to listen to recodrings etc from the net.

the only change to my system was yesterday, when the guy at the PC shop replaced my video card

It just sounds like you have a bad card. Or it is the plug that plugs into the card that is making the noise. Have you tried to play with the plug to see if the quality changes?

any chance you have a cell phone next to those speakers? Or in the vicinity?

There is a spray to reduce static, actually is made by one the furniture cleaning companies, Pledge or something. It is for cleaning/ removing static.

Yeah the cell phone will cause a humming noise. But it will be most likely a bad card.

Actually, I had taken the advice by playing with the plug (jack), and after moving it a couple times, it fixed the problem.
