Happy New Year all for 2007

I've XP Excel and I tried to do a 12 mth calender across the page, but it will only go as far as 'IV' with the columns which would be about half-way through September.

I'm trying to do a Rota with the first Column frozen which has the names of the persons, so then I can scan across to whichever period I wish to view.

Any tips on how to over come this please.

Thanks

IV is the most columns

why not have the names across the top and the calendar down the rows

you have 256 columns
so one for names = 255

you could try just work days if thats fits in with the schedule - so thats 260 days

lose a couple for bankholidays xmas etc and maybe you could get it in 255 columns

I agree with dates down column and names across etaf, and you could use the autofilter to go straight to the date(s) you are looking for.or just look for a particular coding. for example you could have a number system 1 = In, 2 = Holiday, 3 = Sick etc. Then you could filter on code 3 .

You could also use the pivot table to make reports that show the number of occurences that each employee is ill or on holiday.

Excel has 65566 rows and 256 columns at least in version 2003

The only other restriction is memory.

You could also have a department calendar by using the same layout, but one worksheet per department

Thanks for the replies, but my rota would cover 7 days, 365/yr. What ever holidays the staff have off, it may overlap two of the months also the shift may do so.

I cant picture it going down the screen. The only other way I maybe able to do is split it into a 6mth calender.

bassetman, storing templates and add-ins can be very tricky. There is generally a default location for templates, which on Windows XP with Office 2002-2007 (2000 I believe also, but am not sure) is C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. I would recommend your add-in path be C:\WINDOWS\ADDINS. This is simple to remember and easy to get to. It's not the default, but I find it easier.

Good luck. :)
