I built my computer w/ parts from Newegg. Great place to shop. (reviews)(secure)(fast)
Thx for your time - knowledge - expertise.
I wonder why there are not internal powered external hd's available?
My last Zip Drive is a USB - Internal Power Supply. (it's old now!) Just plug it in....
It sure makes it more portable for a traveller like me.
I have an external DVD burner (NEC) that I constructed (w/ Case) so I guess I can do this task.
There are 2.5" USB powered hard disks, I have a 120gig WD Passport that is USB powered. There are no 3.5" USB powered disks because they require far too much power. USB can supply 2.5 watts for each connection, and a typical 3.5" drive draws 15-20 watts, and sometimes more at startup.
I guess I'll have to settle for an external power supply. Not a big deal I guess.
Sure appreciate the help.
Like Mick Jagger sang..."You can't always get what you want".
Best Wishes for the New Year.
