I am getting a timeout when sending e-mail that has more than a few words in it.

This is the message I get from Incredimail:

"One (or more) messages could not be sent. These messages are still in your Outbox, please correct them and then try again."

Outlook express reports that a timeout occured in connecting to the server.

When I send a test e-mail with just the word 'test' in the subject line, it sends without issue. If the e-mail is larger than ~10kb, with or without attachments, the timeout occurs. Also, this problem occurs when attempting to send mail through two different SMTP servers (my ISP and a separate company server), so I'm pretty sure the problem is on my end.

I have tried disabling the antivirus and ant-spyware software, but nothing changes. I have also tried setting up the computer as a DMZ server to rule out my router firewall. This also changed nothing. Also, another computer behind the firewall has no trouble sending e-mail. The problem occurs using both Outlook Express and Incredimail. Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.

Here is my configuration:
Athlon XP 3500+ with 1Gb RAM
Windows XP Home SP2
Windows XP Firewall is disabled
Avast! antivirus
Microsoft anti-spyware
Computer is behind a Netgear router/firewall

SOLUTION:

My motherboard is an Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, which has two gigabit ethernet ports. I switched from the Nforce driven network port to the Marvel Yukon port and everything now works fine. I don't know if it was a driver or a hardware problem, but changing adapters did the trick. I hope this helps anyone else who might have this problem.
