Small Notepad Bug and Default Settings Question?

432 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Triple6
From time to time in Notepad on printed files, and only on printed files, the letters at the end of sentences will be bunched together. I am using the new version of Notepad in Windows 10 Build 1809. The letters are not on top of each other, but there might be only a centimeter of space between them. I sent a report to Microsoft in the Feedback Hub.

I have also included a file with my current Notepad text and Font Settings and Size. My question is what are the default settings for Notepad in Windows 10 build 1809? Perhaps going back to them will solve this small problem. The actual layout of text on screen is fine using this application.

The defaults are :-
Font: Consolas
Font style: Regular
Size: 11

I would check the Word Wrap setting under Format and see if changing it makes any difference.

I went back to those default fonts. Glad you mentioned Word Wrap. Why would you want to uncheck that, and why is it unchecked as the default? In any kind of writing, my view is that you would want the text to wrap when it reaches the right margin, Unless I am missing something here?

Satch
If you are doing any type of coding you generally do not want word wrap to mess with your formatting.

Have you tried using Wordpad? It's better for general word processing.
