The longer my Toshiba A35-S159 is open, the slower it runs. I've cleaned the processor heat sink. It's XP Home Edition with all Service Packs and Upgrades plus IE 8.0. Full 2009 Norton Internet Security says everything is OK. Using 2009 Norton System Works, I do regular cent full virus scans, Disk Doctor, Win Doctor and System Doctor. I have Outlook Express 6.0 and compact regularly.

The slowness is in everything - opening folders, web pages, emails, etc.

When I shut down and restart, it's OK for an hour or so, and then starts slowing again.

Any help very welcome!

Thanks.

Perhaps you have too little virtual memory and should increase your page file a little.

Also,

Please click here to download and install the HijackThis installer.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything

Go into Power Options in the Control Panel and change the power scheme to "Always On". With laptops, this is supposed to keep the processor running at full speed and not adjust to a slower speed. See if that helps.

How much RAM is currently in that laptop?

Is this your laptop?
