Hi,

My hard disk seems to start thrshing when I go into Windows, almost as if something is running relentlessly in the background. At the same time the machine will often hang.

I have removed anti virus software and the problem still extists. Is there any way of finding out what is loading and running, apart from through task manager?

Windows also seems to run quite slowly, any tips for speeding it up apart from memory upgrades?

SIlly question perhaps but have you checked it for spyware ?

I would also suggest that you go to the HDD manufacturer's site, download their Diagnostic Tool and run it. Maybe the drive is going bad.
