I am running windows XP. On booting up I am having to wait 2-3 minutes whilst my PC loads up all the various programes installed on it. This is proving to be a real pain!.

Is there a way that you can instruct only those applications that are most in use to commence at start up, thereby reducing the start up time.

Start Run MSCONFIG - uncheck those that do not need to be started

Thanks for the reply. When I checked the 'start up' tab under MISCONFIG there did not seem to be that many applications from which to choose. Should this have ALL the applications that I am currently running. For example I have Encarta on my hard drive which is some 2GB's. This is not available under MISCONFIG.

Is there any reason for this?

It is prolly not in startup even though you can run it.

To see what is there do this

get HiJack This http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html, put
it in a permanent folder, run it , DO NOT fix anything, post the
log here.
