Sims Graphics

Need Help!

I just had a new computer built about a month ago. I'm not sure what is different, but the Sims 2 graphics are horrible on the new computer. My last computer was a Dell and I don't remember all of the graphic specifications, but the game was very clear and did not lock up on me. Also, there is a new thing on davidsbridal.com, called "Dress Your Wedding." Here, you can build 3D characters to see how your wedding party will look. I am not able to do this. This led me to think I have graphic problems as well.

All I know is that under the Device Manager it says my Display Adapter is a VIA Chrome9 HC IGP. I originally thought that maybe this needed updated, but when I go to the viaarena.com, there isn't an update.

I was wondering if maybe I'm without a video card? I know this sounds horribly naive, but I really have not a clue when it comes to computer hardware. I'm a poor/engaged college student who can't afford to spend a lot. If someone could help me out with the correct specifications and figuring out if I have them, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks! :)

First things first: Your video is on-board. You don't currently have a dedicated graphics card in your system. That's why your performance is not so good. On-board video is terrible for 3D games. Let us know more details about your computer (include motherboard make and model) and we should be able to pick a nice upgrade for you that will make your game experience a lot better.
