Dreaded shutdown problem on WINDOWS 98 SE. I only have systray and explorer running when I shut down but still locks on shutdown. Just get a blinking cursor on screen but keyboard lights stay on until I unplug?

Hi have you tried Microsoft's shutdown patch?

Installed the patch...same problem....keyboards stays lit, have to unplug to shut off.

Hi have you checked suggestions at aumha.org in #2?
Disable fast shutdown in msconfig.
Rename Autoexec.bat and Config.sys.
Possible damaged sound file. etc.

when i had that problem a few years ago ,it was my 10/100 ethernet card causing the problem. LOL
