Should I upgrade Monitors?

455 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  replay
Hello!

Currently I have a gateway FHX2300 monitor which has a refresh rate of 60hz at 1080p. I was thinking of upgrading monitors because I do game and this one isn't the best. My computer friend says that I should get something that puts out about 120Hz because of how technology is advancing. Though, I am not an avid gamer and go between the same games like rocket league, CSGO and Rust. Would it be best to go for 75hz monitor or something higher? Also, how reliable are sceptre monitors? I am a student on a budget and I am looking at upgrading my CPU in a couple months so I can't go overboard.

If your computer can load its Windows operating system and has a working internet connection, please do the following in it:

Download and save the tsginfo.exe file.
After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.
Information about your computer will appear.

I'm looking into upgrading my CPU to an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and my GPU to an AMD Radeon RX 5700 but I have yet to do more research on if it works with my motherboard and such. I have the opportunity to purchase a use Radeon Rx 5700 for $390CA so I want to find out if that worth it
These are the performance scores and power usages of the processor and graphics card that's currently in your computer:

It does not appear to support any of the AMD Ryzen processors.

It does not appear to support the AMD Radeon RX 5700 graphics card.

It looks like you will need a new motherboard if you intend to upgrade the processor and graphics card.

By the way, your current graphics card appears to support monitor refresh rates between 60 Hz and 144 Hz. (y)
