Should felons be allowed to vote?

I believe it is of vital importance that felons be allowed to vote. If a person is subjected to the laws, he/she should have a right to have as much input in the making of the laws as can be afforded.

Our laws do not do enough at this time to afford equal and adaquate defenses in criminal trails. A poor person gets a court appointed attorney, the attorney is appointed by the judge. The defense attorney and prosecutor attorney along with the judge choose the jury. Therefore, if the judge is biased and has reason, the defense attorney, and jury can be slanted toward the prosecutors side. Furthermore, the judge allots the time in which a defense attorney can be allowed to speak, effectively weakening the defense. In the state of Texas, it is common for the judge to allot 30 minutes time for the defense in a death penalty crime. Rights, and the defense of rights, are for those who can afford them.

it was once one of the basic precepts of our system of justice that it is better to free 10 guilty men than to allow one innocent man to rot in jail.
If innocents are inprisoned, what rights to change the system that prosecuted them do they have?

As far as I know, names still the same, plus many more from your time. Have not heard the term raisinball, but it brings to mind rabbit turds from rabbits fed pot to enhance the effects of low grade pot. Google turned up nothing on the term.
Maybe it's a strange new name the kids are making up so their parents don't know what it is! ;) :D Maybe the remnants after smoking pot with a hookah? :D
Bong resin, I would guess.

LAN had an ill-spent youth
I can imagine! ;) :D
Back on subject............felons should not be allowed to vote. This will eventually mean most of the current Bush administration will not be voting after 2008 elections. :p
Good one Wino! :D :D

I suppose it's a good idea. Totally agree on how low-income offenders, no matter what level of offense get shafted when it comes to public defense attornies. Half the time they want you to pleed guty on a lesser charge or work out some sort of deal. This is a serious problem, especially if you didn't commit the crime you're being accused of. I met quite a few dudes who had to pay "civil-ps" rather than stay in jail for months. LOl, then you have all these cases about guys who spen 2-20 years in jail. They say all the time they didn't do it, and come to find out they did. Why, because the Proscecution lied it's butt off just to win. You must realize that it isn't about justics with proscecution, it's all about "winning" proving you guilty even if all the evidence at hand says otherwise! All through my life I've seen it on the news, watched it on educational-tv, and read it.

The criminal justice system is big buisness. Why do you think people that don't really need to be in prison are in prison? You must also realize that some people are career criminals because they don't fear jail. LOL, three square meals, shower, free medical care, basic cable, and plenty of time to sit on my *** and not work for any of it. The only things I have to worry about are gang rape, getting killed, and don't forget pissing off a guard!

Sorry got side tracked there.

I met a woman who lives in FL., who said her and her son both vote in every election, but had their names removed from the voters registration right before that election!
She also said every car driven by blacks were pulled over on their way to the polls!

Jeb had told bro G W "I'll give you FL." ;)
They had a local election in my state. While I was in line reading a book (yea it was that long). There was a guy with some formal clothes white guy which equals politicain or poll official in my neighborhood. Could figure out which he was too far away; that said right behind him was some spanish guy in plain clothing leaving saying "vote for ****" and "give **** a chance. I know the police officer had to hear it because he was 2 feet from me. Black areas to one degree or another get screwed.

I know one person who didn't vote because she knew how the election would turn on. She was right by the way.
Felons should not be allowed to vote while incarcerated. They are in prison to be punished for a crime. They violated the laws of the land, and were found guilty in a court of law, therefore as part of the punishment they loose some of their rights, such as the right to vote.

They're probably saying "resin ball" (resin left over after smoking is scraped out of a pipe, rolled up into a little ball, and smoked.)

LOL can't vote, but can get basic cable and lift weights all day.
Ahem! Who complained last election?

Florida moves to restore felons' voting rights
The governor's action would apply to those who have served time.
By Gregory Lewis, South Florida Sun-Sentinel
April 6, 2007

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. — Many Florida felons released from prison could soon have their voting and other civil rights restored under a rule approved Thursday by Republican Gov. Charlie Crist and the state's clemency board.

There's something I don't like about that line of reasoning. Specifically, aren't illegal aliens subject to laws? Aren't children subject to laws? Then shouldn't those groups also have the right to vote, by logical extension of your argument?
