I am running Windows ME V. 6.0.2800.1106 fully updated as of yesterday. Trying to do a DOS virus scan on McAfees advice. Unable to boot to DOS prompt. Bootup with O/S install disc inserted it does a normal boot ( drive never spins). Downloaded the boot file (.exe) for my o/s from bootdisc.com and started up only to get the message: “invalid system disc replace the disc hit any key”.
This means remove the floppy or do not boot up. McAfee tech help hopeless as am I.
Next step
1.sell everything especially electronics.
2.move to Yukon wilderness build cabin eat bears.
3.never again own ANYTHING that uses electrons in any way shape or form.
4. live happily ever after.
Please help! :) :)

That file you downloaded must be saved to your hard drive. Then you need to run it from the hard drive to create the actual bootdisk. Don't save the file directly to a floppy disk.

Also if you post you exact problems we can help out there too. What virus do you have?

If the computer boots and can get on the internet you can do a virus scan online at: housecall.trendmicro.com
