I'm not sure if I'm providing enough info but this is my question. I have a six computer peer to peer network. I'm trying to share a folder with another computer on the network. When I right click on the folder and choose sharing and give the folder a share name, then click the permissions tab which brings me to the permissions window "It has everyone listed in it for this computer.
I want to add users from another computer in the workgroup. I click on add and in the "look in box I click the arrow at the end of the box to put the name of the workgroup in this box. After this the list that is displayed say's " everyone, authenticated users. anonymous logon, batch, dialup and so on. There is no reference to any of the other computers on the network. WHY?

Goto the users on the 2K machine you want to share from and add a user account ( and enable it ) for all the other users on the other machines ( make sure they have exactly the same username and password as they do on their own machines ) that way when they log on their own machine as normal and browse the shared folder on the Win2K machine it will let them in.
P.S. Don't forget to then go back to the shared folder and give these particular users the rights to the folder in question.
There is no reference to the other computers on the network because the Win2k PC does not keep track of computers just users that it will be authenticating. Set up user accounts on the Win2k box and use thos logins for the clients connecting to your network. This is only workgroup authentication and if you wnat true server client authentication just go to the server version.
