Hi,
I'm experimenting with setting up my C hard drive so that it only contains program files and not all the personal files I create.
So far, no problem. I've shifted the my documents folder to a different partition and it looks like it will work fine.
I'm a bit of a lazy sod and anything I download I save it to my desktop, and then go through a few weks later and either delete it or stick it where I actually want it. It works for me.
I'd like to shift my desktop to my other partition as well.
I figure I can just drag and drop it, but is it more complex than this?
The aim is to use a second hard drive simply as a regular vault of how I've setup all the programs I want, so that if my c drive goes pear shape i can restore the contents easily.
And I can easily backup all my personal stuff using a different method.
Any thoughts?
regards
Matt

I think I'd be cautious about trying to shift the desktop over.

Truthfully, I've solved this issue by having Cobian Backup running and just selectively copying anything that still lives on the C: drive to my backup drive every day.

It will be residing on the same physical drive initially. Later on it will move.
Thanks Double Helix, I'll have a play.
And thanks for pointing out that its a system folder so I guess there may be some hazards.
Regards
Matt
