I am about to re-format my pc and at the moment i have a wireless network (using a D-link wireless router) between my pc and a laptop to share internet connection.
I did not set this up but i will have to set it up when i re-format so i was wondering if anyone could basically talk me through setting up a network, or send me to any tutorial sites that could also help

As always thanks guys!!

After you format and install Windows the next step is to visit Device Manager and make sure all your drivers are installed. If you don't have a driver CD it's a good idea to collect the drivers from the web now.

If you are connecting to your router via ethernet, that should work as soon as you have the driver installed. If wireless, the adapter should detect the network and give you a chance to connect, inputting the WPA passphrase or WEP key, of course.

Since you didn't indicate any intention to mess with the router, I have no idea why tek guy is asking about your ISP.

At least make sure you have the drivers for your network card available or included with XP. Then should you need any more, they can often be downloaded from the Internet.

It's best to have them all ahead of time. So you may look at the computer manufacturer's web site to see what you need. But then copy them to either something like a flash drive or put them on a CD. Otherwise if you format the hard drive, they will be gone.
