Dear All,

I have a home wireless network, with 3 different wireless devices.
I live in a small street, with hardly any houses.
The other morning I noticed another device attached to my wireless router.
I didn’t have any security on the network, as I didn’t think anyone else would use it. I’ve since locked down the wifi, but I’m curious to know if I can send any messages to the alien devise, as I’d like to invite them to use my internet, but I want to know who they are first.

Any suggestions welcome.

Ben

Change your SSID to CALL5551234 (using your actual phone #).
That is a pretty good idea. Keep it simple stupid. That is what I always say.

The only other thing I can think of is to send a NET SEND message to his IP address. They would have to be using Windows 2000 or XP to do it and they will also have to have the Messenger Service turned on. I believe XP SP2 disables the messenger service.

I should have mentioned before that prior to "invite them to use my internet" you need to check your contract with your ISP.

You are way to generous and foolish as well. I know of no ISP that allows you to share a personal account, so what you're suggesting is illegal as well. Since we don't want to get involved in illegal activities here, I'm closing this thread.
