I have to take my computer to the shop to have a fan replaced. They won't let me do it myself as the warranty will be void. What is the best way to protect my information? I have another computer I can transfer things to while it is in the shop. Should I delete everything from my computer or is there a way to protect things? Thanks for any advice.

From what I have read, these won't really help me. It looks like I need to shred the files. I'm thinking of my program that saves my passwords, as well as all other programs that give any of my financial information. This is a royal pain. I'm thinking I should just forget my last month of warranty and do it myself if I were sure the fan is the problem.
