Hello there and welcome to TSG's security forum.
My name is David, I will be helping you with your log today.

It is a good idea to print off these instructions:
This will be useful as there is a possibility some of the instructions will need to be carried out where internet access is not available.
You may also like to save these instructions in word/notepad to the desktop where they can be easily found for the same reasons as above.
A print out of the instructions would be a good reference to make sure you don't yet lost.
Also, it is important that you complete the instructions in the right order, and also that you don't miss any steps out!
If you have any queries about the process or just general questions, just ask.

Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following if still present:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = c:\secure32.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\secure32.html
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {DE9C389F-3316-41A7-809B-AA305ED9D922} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoSys] C:\WINDOWS\system32\autosys.exe
O23 - Service: Microsoft authenticate service (MsaSvc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\msasvc.exe (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Open hijackthis, click 'config' (bottom right) Choose the tab 'misc Tools' on top.
Choose 'delete a file on reboot'. In the field, copy and paste the filepath a few lines below.
Click open. Hijackthis will tell you that this file will be deleted on next reboot and if you want to reboot now.
When asked if you want to reboot now, say no.:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\autosys.exe

Do the above for the following two files:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msasvc.exe
c:\secure32.html

Then reboot your PC manually.

Open notepad and copy and paste the following text in the quote box into the window:
sc stop MsaSvc
sc delete MsaSvc
Save this as fix.bat
Choose to save as all files.
This is how the batch must look afterwards:

Doubleclick fix.bat and let the program run.

Download and save Blacklight to your desktop.
Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
Click on scan then click next,
You'll see a list of all items found.
Do not choose for rename yet! I want to see the log first; legitimate items can also be present.
There is a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers)
Post the contents of the log in your next reply.

Please download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combo.exe to launch the application.
Follow the prompts that will be displayed on the screen.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.
When finished, it should produce a log, combofix.txt.
Post this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.
Also post the combofix log in your next reply! :)

Hey there, Before we continue, can you tell me what you know about Instant Message Grabber 2.
It appears to be a security risk, you do know that it can record keystrokes..

When asked if you want to reboot now, say Yes.:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcrl.dll

Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following if still present:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = c:\secure32.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\secure32.html
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoSys] C:\WINDOWS\system32\autosys.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Ive been using instant message grabber 2 to log aim conversations for a long time before this whole mess started. So i dont think thats a problem but if it is i could stop using it.

Now when trying to open internet explorer it says "This application has failed to start bcause msvcrl.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." Before it would open to a blank page and do nothing. Now with this message nothing happens.

I tried to use the Kaspersky Webscan but it said something about only working with internet explorer and i can only get to the internet with modzilla firefox. I clicked accept anyways and nothing happened when using mozilla firefox.

Heres the hijackthis log now after ive restarted the computer.

Hi, tossthecomputer :)

I have taken the liberty to ask a few quetions. D_Trojanator is not online, and I hope he wont mind.

1. Did the computer came with SP2 installed or did you have to download SP2?
2. Do you have the XP CD? Is the CD SP2?
3. What Is the computer brand?

Please download FileFind from Atribune.
Unzip the file and save it to your desktop.

To run FileFind, please do the following:
  • Click on FileFind.exe
  • In the box labeled "Directory"
    • Enter: C:\
  • In the box labeled "File"
    • Enter: iexplore.exe
  • Now click on the "Search" button
  • Once the utility has found the files click on "Export"
  • A Notepad will open up. Please copy the entire contents of the Notepad and paste them here.
  • NOTE: The notepad is saved on your C:\ drive as "Export.txt"

Hi, tossthecomputer :)

Go to Start->Run, copy and paste the following commnad (It is one line) and click OK.

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%\Inf\ie.inf

The Wizard will ask you for the location of the iexplore.exe file. Redirect (Browse) to the following location and double click on iexplore.exe:

C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\iexplore.exe

It is possible that the Windows CD will be asked. I am not sure, but the installation files are located on C:\Windows\i386. Search for Explorer.EX_ (including the underscore) and where this file is found, that location represents the Windows XP CD in the computer.

Keep me posted.
