Search bar and settings menu not working?

Hi,
Sorry if this issue has been brought up before and I missed it in the threads.
My son says he updated his windows 10 and since then he can’t access the search bar, or any search screen for that matter, and place when you can enter information to search does not work.
Most importantly, he can’t access the settings menu. It says something like copy to clipboard.
sorry, I’m terrible with PCs.
it may not be related to the update at all because it’s his computer that he uses for gaming and may have downloaded something but swears it happened since the update.
Even if there’s a way to factor reset the system without having to go through the settings menu or using the search bar?!
