Seagate Momentus 5400.6 USB adapter not working

Hello everyone, so basically there was a problem with a laptop HDD (it wouldn't boot, or show up in the BIOS menu), so I took it out and tried to connect it to my desk computer using a USB adapter. I was able to locate the disc in windows DISKPART. I tried to format it, but when i typed the clean command my computer just pretty much froze and I had to restart it. Now when i plug in the HDD it only starts spinning, but nothing else happens. Am I missing something ? Any help will be very appreciated, thanks alot in advance

It sounds like the hdd has died. My suggestion is to go to manufacturers website and download a hdd test tool. Most of them will have an option to make a bootable cd/USB. Seagate has a good tool. It'll work on non-seagate drives for the most basic of tests.

I downloaded the tool, and it found a drive called Flash Reader, however when i try to perform a basic information scan it doesn't return any information. Does this mean that the HDD is dead for good ? It is still able to spin and the LED diode on my adapter is indicating that something is going on, however the computer can no longer recognize the HDD. I find this very strange, because the disk got atleast recognized the first time i plugged it in
Update: The disk can be selected in DISKPART and it shows all the partitions correctly, but when i try to clean the disk it outputs an error about cyclic redundancy check
If you have a crc error it means that there's a problem with the hdd. It's writes to the disk and when it tries to read it back there's an error.
In my opinion you'll need to replace it.
Thanks for the replies, i replaced the HDD with an SSD
