My sister was online and tried to download Real One player so she could view some online content. She has WinMe installed on her Toshiba laptop. I don't know how it happened, but immediately afterward everything became very large on the screen, and you have to use the mouse to move around the screen, in order to be able to see everything on the screen. I brought up Display Properties and went to Settings, where I adjusted to various screen resolutions and other variables, but to no avail. Strangely enough, on the Background tab it shows the display as being normal sized. How can I get the display back to normal?

The resolution is set for the wrong size, it has to be the same size as the screen resolution on a laptop.

For a Windows ME age of laptop that is probably around 800 x 600.

You may need to reload the laptop video chipset drivers.

Try this, start, run, type scanreg /restore and hit enter, choose a date prior to the problem but don't go too far back and in ANY EVENT, DO NOT use the oldest date.
