I, like many people, am supremely annoyed with ScanDisk's infuriating reminder on how to properly shut down Windows after a freeze-up.

I was wondering, is there a way to change the text to something like, "I'm so sorry. I'm a lousy computer. I promise that I'll never, ever do it again." ...or something.

You could always disable scandisk at startup after a shutdown. :)

Hi ColonelKernel,
Microsoft thinks everybody doesnt know as much as they do so they give us messages like that. Like LooneyTunes said you can disable it, but I personally would leave it alone as a safe guard. It is your call!

I double that. I left mine as it is, simply because it can prevent something much more annoying later .. hard disk related.

I understand why ScanDisk runs. Analogous to a bio-chemistry lab evacuated for an emergency. When the emergency clears, you have to make sure it's safe before you re-enter the room.

It's the arrogant tone of it's message that I wanted to change. Is there some linked text file that I can alter or does the program have to be recompiled after the altering text.

I'm not sure it's even possible, but I had to try.
