hey, there used to be a program on the web, that scanned your computer for programs and software, and told you where to get the updates for them. does anyone remember what it was, or know of something close?

it showed an icon on your desktop of a machine scanning your pc with a laser like beam, then showed updates for all software when it got done.

ZDNet had that and it transferred over to Cnet when they bought it. But they have discontinued it. I used it all the time but havent run across anything similar since they dropped it. http://download.com.com/1200-20-960126.html

This site scans for just drivers: http://www.drivershq.com/ But I havent found anything else with a large database of software updates that will scan the computer.

yes, I found that on cnet, however they have stopped it for now, anything else?
