Safeboot is a program which encrypts the hard drives data on a computer so, if stolen, the data cannot be accessed.
But I can get past the safeboot login with an admin username and password. I have a laptop (IBM) which is causing alot of problems. I need to access the desktop files in Windows (booting is not needed, just the files) but Windows is corrupted (blue screen). I tried to recover the files using safemode but I still get the blue screen.
I instead decided to use a boot manager from an attached usb floppy drive (after logging in with the safeboot administrators account) and from there boot Knoppix. But when I get into Knoppix the drive is unmountable "unknown file system". So, my colleague was wondering if the safeboot login information is being lost when Knoppix mounts the RAM disk or if the encryption process simply wont let the file system (NTFS) be mounted by Knoppix. Thanks for any ideas. -CK
