ok, i have a p4 with HT, 3.0Ghz, windows xp pro, 120 ata HD, an Intel D875PBZ Motherboard, and Ati Radeon 9800 pro 128mb DDR, and nortan internet Security 2004.
The Problem is that after finding adware using nortan, the adware couldn't be deleted, so i followed the instructions on the nortan link on how to uninstall it. It told me to open msconfig, using run, and select the safemode reboot option and restart my computer to delete the adware in safe mode. What happened was after I restarted my computer it pulled up the option to start in safe mode, normal mode, ect. I've tried all of the options and nothing works. For the safe mode options it will stat to load but will suddenly stop. The last file to load is windows\system32\DRIVERS\agp440.sys. If i try any options that's not safe mode it will bring up the normal windows booting screen and will not finish loading also. After every attempt my computer will restart and bring up the same options as before.
I read somthing about booting from my xp pro recovery cd can fix it if i input "disable mup" somewear, can i do this without being in windows? I have also heard that if i reformat my HD that i can reintall windows and it will fix the problem. However reformating is last on my mind right now. How can i reformat my HD?
I've tried just about everything. Thanks for your help!!!
