Ryzen 7 5800x overheating

Hello!

My PC is fitted with a Ryzen 7 5800x CPU and doing simple things like using discord or chrome sees my CPU shoot up to about 80+ degrees, sometimes almost 90.

I am currently only using discord and chrome and its at 76 degrees. Some thermal paste was applied to my CPU a week or so ago which helped for a day or two but now it seems to be really overheating again.

As soon as I open something like apex legends for example, it shoots right up to the very high 80s and stays there. And it appears to be relatively loud.

Something just doesn't seem right and any help would be appreciated.

First of all, you are posting in a hardware forum and no one has any idea what hardware you are running. Post ALL of your exact system specs.
Next what type of case are you running? Air or liquid cooling?
Is the case inside a cabinet or desk?
What is the ambient temp of the room in which you have the system?

Yes, I would agree. Something is wrong. I run an overclocked 3800X and under a light load in a warm room, it is running @34C.

Sorry about that. You're right..

My specs are as follows

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x
GPU: GeForce RTX 3080
Ram: 32GB

My case is a TUF Gaming GT501 with the glass case off on the side.

It is fitted with a liquid cooler - Silverstone PF360 all-in-one cooler with ARGB
PC sits ontop of my desk behind my two monitors and the room its in is nice and cool.

I would assume you do not have the liquid cooler installed correctly OR perhaps it is defective. What exact motherboard ie brand and model# are you running?
Most boards have either a water pump header to which you connect the pump or they have a header that can be configured in the bios for a water pump. You would then read the pump RPM in the bios from the header.

Did this build ever run cool or has it always ran hot?
