No matter where or what I am doing on my computer, the following message keeps popping up on my screen and will not go away. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it? I have Windows 98. Thank you.
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime error
Program C:/WINDOWS/EXPLORER.EXE
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the applications support team for more information.
Welcome to TSG R Fritz! I've requested your thread be moved. To do so yourself in the future...click on the red triangle on the right side of your post next to the post # and type the request. Take care and good luck! angel
Create a permanent folder on your hard drive like c:\program files\hjt.
Download Hijackthis again and click "Save", direct it to the permanent folder you created. Double click on hijackthis.exe and select Do a system scan and save a logfile. This log will open in notepad. Copy and paste the log back here for review. Don't make any changes until instructed to do so.
I have moved your post to the Security Forum as this is most likely caused by malware.
Thank you for trying to help me. I am a senior citizen and very computer illiterate. I don't know how to do any of the things you suggested. I will try to get my grandson to come over and help me. The "runtime error" is so annoying.
