Hello,

I hope some one can help me with a problem I am having with Outlook Express and the "sent" folder.

I first had this problem back in November of 2006. The sent emails were not being saved in the sent folder. I renamed the folder and started a new one and all was well until I noticed today that the same thing had started again. None have been saved since January 07, 2007.
I looked at the old folder of sent items and there was over 1,000 in it so I thought maybe this was the problem, too many. Today I looked at the sent folder and there was only a few over 100 sent emails in it, but it had stopped saving them again. I made a new sent folder and it saves them now.

Is there some setting somewhere to set this number in the sent folder? Or is this something else?

Thanks to All.

In order for your sent emails to be saved in your "Sent items" folder you will need to make sure that the "save a copy in my sent items" box is checked when composing an email (this is automatically checked by default, unless you have disabled this option in preferences). You can always set this option in Preferences to either always be on or off!

Thanks. I have had this option checked during all this problem time. This" not saving" is doing it even with this "checked to save all sent messages". There seems to be something happening even with this option checked to save all.

Well i found this.

That can happen if the Sent Items folder is damaged. Move all messages you might want to keep out of the Sent Items folder and into another mail folder you create. Close OE, then delete the file Sent Items.dbx in your Identity's store folder. OE will create a new one when you re-open OE.

In order to avoid this problem, it is best to move messages out of Sent Items and into another folder you create whenever the number of messages is over 1,000 or so. Note that a very large Sent Items folder can also make OE sluggish whenever you send mail.
