Hey Guys, I have a Linksys WRT54g router and am trying to run a proxy server behind it (on my Windows XP computer). The server is called Privoxy.

Here is my situation:
1. If I plug straight into the computer (no router involved), the browser can connect to the proxy server via the external IP address. This works fine.
2. If I keep the router plugged in, the browser CANNOT connect to the proxy server via the external IP address.

I can connect to the proxy using the internal (LAN) IP address when the router is plugged in. Just not via the external IP.

As you can see, something with the router is blocking access to the server.

So, I tried port-forwarding for that port...didn't work.
I tried using a DMZ...didn't work.
I turned off "Block Anonymous Internet Requests" and "Filter Internet NAT Redirection"...didn't work

I am completely stuck here. The browser can connect to the server when the router is taken out of the equation, but cannot when it is.

Do you guys know any better proxy servers that can run on Windows?

DHCP is enabled, but I am making sure that my computer's IP address is staying the same during the process.

What is the default gateway and how do I tell?

Does the modem have an IP address range?
How can I check this?

The modem and router are compatible, because normal browsing works fine (no proxy).

When you say you use a DMZ for internet phone, you leave all your ports open..continuously? Isn't that a security risk?
