I have a Sprint PCS Motorola RAZR V3m. It came with the MicroSD Adapter and a MicroSD card. I don't want ringtones sent to my phone because of the cost of internet access and roaming. With the MicroSD Adapter and the card I can put media on my RAZR without downloading them from the internet. Heres the problem, when I put songs on my RAZR I cant set them as a ringtone. I think it's because of the size of the file. Can someone please tell me how to make ringtones out of my songs and load them onto my phone with the MicroSD card?

Thanks
Tom

What file format is the music you put on your phone? Midi files are widely used as they are small but you commonly work with mp3's otherwise. Did you get any software with the phone? Motorolla's own Phone Tools software has the option in it to do what you want. Otherwise, as your phone will not be ringing for the whole 3-4 mins duration of a song anyway, you would have to work on your mp3 on the computer first, picking the segment of the song you want as the ring tone, trim the file to this segment then put it on your phone to use. You can reduce bitrates of mp3's to reduce the file size smaller if need be. You say you have already been able to put music on your phone? When the trimmed mp3 is on there, copied into the music folder, go to it and you'll have the option to set it as a ring tone.

It's in mp3 format and I trimmed down the size to about 30 seconds. Ive tried Motorola Phone Tools but the Multimedia Studio isnt supporting my razr v3m. I still don't have the option of setting the song as my ringtone.

Bear with me as I have an older V3 so don't know what's changed on your version.
You should update Phone tools online once installed if you haven't already done so. Where on your phone is the song? Is it in the same folder as your other 'sounds' ?

Sorry I haven't responded in a long time but I got it working with Motorola Phone Tools once I updated it.

Thanks so much for your help
