Hi,

Now I am at another clients.

When Windows pulls up it starts to "think" then goes to a black screen, then "think", then black screen, etc. then just went to black screen.

Went to safe mode and unchecked all startup programs. It did the same thing, etc. stayed at Windows but the mouse moves after you count to 20 and all programs just hang up. Did Contral Alt Delete to see what programs were running. Only Explorer.

Ran Adaware. Spybot, ran hijack this and took out a few obvious problems (I can't post since I can't get on the net in safe mode.)

Running Norton now but thought I'd see if there is anything anyone could suggest at this point.

(I'm on another computer while that is running.)

One more thing. When I went to msconfig. Inside the autoexec.bat file Soundblaster is checked. I'm a little concerned to uncheck anything in autoexec.bat but that seems highly unusual. Any ideas?

Thanks I'll try that.

Did a scanreg / restore and was able to get in, but still hangs up. Control alt delete shows cccapp not responding. Does anyone know what that is?

Basically you've posted a "clean boot" scanlog. That is to say you have used msconfig to disable all startup entries, so we really cannot see what you have disabled.

But in theory, you should be able to boot without a hitch, whatever the problem is, it isn't evident there.

Do NOT leave Scanregistry permenently disabled is msconfig or you are asking for BIG trouble if Windows suddenly decides to restore a backup registry. It may happen months from now, and the registry restored will be the last one backed up.

If you are still hanging at login, and there is no need for a "password" login screen, go to the Network applet in the control panel and switch to Windows login rather than family. The login window should no longer appear.

Also you may want to delete all the *.pwl (password) files on the system. Corruption there can cause errors and hangs.

If the system is networked, disable the networking configuration by removing or disabling the network card.

Thanks!!

I did add all of the start ups one by one and got it back up (minus a few they'd never use or need!)

I ended up solving it. I scanreg and restored and then ran thru a bunch of programs. FINALLY it seems to be all back.

Thanks for your help!
