The problem started when my son tried to install a new product which caused some files to be lost (including ddraw.lld)(The product is Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3). My final attempt to fix it was to re-install Windows ME. The original problem was solved, but now there is a permanent error message saying "Explorer has caused an error in NEWDOTNET3_88.dll. Explorer will now close". All programs work as long as I leave the message window alone, except for opening any internet sites. Using Norton Utilities, I find one problem. It says that Dotnetinstaller.exe cannot open a required file: mscoree.dll, both located at C:\program files\common files\installshield\professional\runtime\0700\intel 32\.... I cannot find any copies of mscoree.dll anywhere and have tried to reinstall Windows ME again, but no change.
