Hi all,

I seem to have a really weird problem with Incredimail. I've bought it, and I have to say that Incredimail support has TRIED to be helpful, but they seem to really be stumped.

I've used Incredimail for more than a year, and I never had any problems with it. Recently, I upgraded my computer. I got a new hardrive and had Window XP Pro installed on it with a new motherboard and faster processor. Since I re-installed Incredimail (downloaded a fresh Incredimail, I didn't transfer the old one) There has been a very strange problem with the skins. It's very difficult to describe, so I've attached a couple of screen shots of what is going on.

Now, when I first turn the program on, it looks like this, then I go and select a NEW skin, apply it, and it is fine, until I open one of the options that I haven't used yet, they look weird too, until I've used them. The skin will stay normal, until the Incredimail window is closed and then re-opened. If I leave it just reduced in the toolbar, it will stay okay, but if it is closed or when I first open it, I have to fix it again. Very annoying. The rest of the Incredimail works fine, but this skin thing is quite irritating and has us stumped.

I've un-installed the program (removing the reg. key, deleting the Windows Temp file, deleting the Application Data, ect....) and re-installed it several times, that doesn't make any difference.

I love using Incredimail, it's always been very enjoyable, and I'd like to keep it, but not if I have to fix this bug every single time!

Thanks for any help!

Hiya

When you upgraded your drive to Windows XP, did you have any traces of the Incredimail still on your drive, prior to the new install? Some upgrades of Windows retains the programs that you have, unless you formatted before upgrading.

When you receive any mail, do they look strange as well?

I assume this is where you got it from:

No, no traces left. It was an entirely new hardrive. I needed a bigger hard drive to keep up with my website, so I got a new one and had XP Pro installed on that. Plus the new processor, ect......so it was completely fresh.

Hmmmm.....you know what, I did have the incredimail working on the Windows XP (with the new hard drive), and about a week later, I got the new motherboard and processor and THAT is when Incredimail's skin began acting funny. I don't know if that detail is relevant, but it did work for a short while until the motherboard/processor change.

New mail is not strange, unless I haven't fixed it yet (everything is strange until then).

And yes, that is where I got it from, the Incredimail website.

lets see if its anything thats downloaded that may be causing this problem:

go to www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

I see you had to close a duplicate thread? I don't know how that happened, I only posted the one

Probably this silly Incredimail did it......

Would anyone be able to help with this? Or am I doomed to having this Incredimail glitch?

This is probably one of those "I've never heard of this" problems. I seem to collect them.

Sorry, was out last night. I closed the other thread, as it was a duplicate. We just do that, so others don't post to two at once :)

Go here and download CWShredder:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html#cwshredder

UnZip the file, close all browser windows and click on the cwshredder.exe then click "Fix" (Not "Scan only") and let it do it's thing.

When it is finished Restart your computer.

Then, can you post another log

I downloaded it and ran it. At one point, it said that there was something that it was not sure about and it said to write down the file name and ask someone. Which would be you and the wonderfully kind and intelligent people here :D

Here is the file name:

C:\Windows\wupdt.exe

Then I ran a new Hijack This log (I'm assuming that is the one you meant to do again?) and am posting it below:

My Incredimal problem has been resolved. I had to download the latest video driver. I had no idea that there was an update for that driver, since neither Windows Update nor my MSI LiveUpdater appraised me of that fact.

Someone suggested this (actually in relation to another problem) and upon reboot when my Incredimail came up, the skins and appearance of it were perfectly normal!

*grumbles.....I cannot BELIEVE I didn't think of that, I KNOW to keep those things updated.....*

Thats great to hear :)

Also, just a quick cleanup on HT:

Re-run HT, and tick the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://search.ieplugin.com/search.htm

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://search.ieplugin.com/search.htm

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://search.ieplugin.com/q.cgi?q=%s

As for that file:

C:\Windows\wupdt.exe

Have a read of this:

http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/wupdt/

http://sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.ieplugin.html

I would run an uptodate virus scanner, and see if it will be removed. Also, doublecheck online here:

Eddie, Thank you. I've never done this sort of thing before, and am somewhat nervous about it

I do have a question, since the shredder thing is the one that found that wupdt file, couldn't it get rid of it? Couldn't I just run that program again and instruct it to take care of that one, too?

Should I run the Hijack this program first, before I do anything else?

Fix this one:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {69135BDE-5FDC-4B61-98AA-82AD2091BCCC} - (no file)

Restart your computer.

Did you delete the wupdt.exe file?

No, I haven't deleted that file, yet. I wanted to know if the shredder program can do it for me? Can the Norton anti-virus do it for me?

The links that eddie gave me about that file said something about Norton possibly removing it......I don't know how to do a intelligent update (somehow, that doesn't make me sound very good.....:p ) like it says to do, and I really am unsure about messing with the registry. The Shredder program found it, can't it remove it?

I'll run another HT and then reboot and be back in a minute.
