When I click on disk cleanup I see a file called Content.IES---When I view the file there must be a zillion items in it----Is this important to keep or could it be deleted---It had items going back several months---Thanks
I have windows Me and Netscape 4.78 for browser---

I will make an assumption that the content you are referring to is actually IE5 instead of IES. That folder is all your temporary internet files and should be deleted periodically to save space and allow your system to retrieve new images of websites.

davey---Disk cleanup shows temp internet files and just temp files---What is the difference---It's the temp files that go back for several months----I can't find a way to delete them----All other files that I want to delete I have no problem with---What am I missing here---

Temp files are created by programs for added work space and also by programs that need to update after restart. In 99% of cases the file can be deleted safely. Go to start search and type in *.tmp and select all and delete all found. Now navigate to the windows\Temp folder and locate all files older then current date and delete those. Check inside all folders if present for old stuff to delete. After restart windows will recreate any temp files it needs. Do this cleanup periodically since some programs do not clean up after themselves very well. After you delete the temp file in the windows folder leave them reside in the recycle bin for awhile to improve your comfort level.
