Reset laptop now it's asking to install Windows

426 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Couriant
I got a computer/laptop from my friend and I was trying to wipe everything off of it so I’d have a fresh start. Well I reset the pc. Now it’s asking to install windows. What do I do? Everything I read says to buy a flash drive or disc with windows on it from Amazon or wherever and install windows from it. I’m broke and pinching every penny so could I possibly use my iPhone to download the file and install it via my charger to the USB port? Hopefully someone can help. I’m dumb. Lol

Was that laptop working okay before you reset it?

How exactly did you "reset" that laptop?

What is the brand name and model name and exact model number and exact serial number of that laptop?

It seemed to work ok minus the screen being cracked and it was a little laggy at times. He had a bunch of files on there that were all over the place in random folders. So deleting them one by one was annoying. I typed in the search bar "reset" and it came up with "reset this pc" from there I selected to delete everything like apps, documents, etc. Then I selected local install of windows. Which is where I believe I messed up. But even with deleting everything I could myself, there was too much on there to do a cloud install of windows. It's a RCA Cambio W101SA23T1 running on Windows 10 Home. The serial number etc I'm not too sure. Hopefully this is a cheap easy fix
You have a RCA Cambio W101SA23T1 10.1" tablet with detachable keyboard.

It's a very cheap model which retailed in late 2018 for only $109.00.

I'm not able to locate a support site for it, so I'm not sure how you can reinstall Windows 10 Home in it.

I personally have never owned or worked on a tablet.

I’d assume through the USB port with a recovery flash drive. But could I use my iPhone and download the file from windows and do the same thing?
Someone else here will need to answer that question.
You will need to use any windows machine to download and install the Media Creation Tool onto a USB drive. This will wipe the USB drive when you create the USB tool. Note: this will have basic windows drivers and may not have the drivers your tablet needs.

Check the search bar for About this PC and see if there is a suppport number for RCA, that way you may be able to get the drivers.
