I had some work done on my computer last summer and the guy who did it replaced my C drive with an 18 GB HD. I cannot live with this small HD and want to replace it with a larger drive. I currently have the 18 GB drive as my C drive and also have another 75 GB HD as my D drive where I store all my personal files. The 18 GB HD has my operating system on it and all my working programs. I have now purchased a 250 GB HD and want to use it as the drive where I would store all my personal files. My questions are these:
Can I just copy all the information from my current D drive on to the the 250 GB HD drive and then transfer all the files from my C drive onto the old D drive, change the jumpers on the D drive from slave to master and then put it back into my computer along with the new 250 GB HD (using it as the new slave drive) and just take the old 18 GB HD out of the computer.
I have a program called Acronis True Image to transfer the information from all the old drives to the new new drives.
I hope this is clear to someone and they can just tell me if the procedure I have outlined above will work.
