remove extra instance of "video codecs" from device manager

Hi guys, I was having trouble getting an old obscure video codec to load so I tried to install it manually and I screwed up, which resulted in a duplicate "Video Codecs" field in the "Sound, video and game controllers" field of Device Manager.

I've found plenty of pages that explain how to remove codecs, but my problem now isn't removing a specific codec, it's removing the duplicate "Video Codecs" entry. If I right click on it, there is no uninstall option like many of the other devices. When view the properties of the duplicated item, it lists no codecs (whereas the codecs appear in the original item), and now when I try to play any kind of video I only get audio (only tried with WMP so far).

Someone had suggested I try Unlocker but that didn't work... that prog doesn't affect the contextual menu in Device Manager.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Troy
