I cannot seem to get the Remote Control for a COBY DVD player to function. I haven't used it since summer and had the problem then; but I remember it was an easy fix. The typical solutions don't make it work and I'm just curious what I need to do to get it functioning again. The remote is only about 1 year old and has been used extremely little and did work the last time it was used; I just cannot recall what I did to make it work.

Batteries...?

If this is a normal Infared remote, you can test it if you have a video camera or a digital camera with an LCD viewfinder.

The IR diode becomes visible when viewed through such devices, when operated. That can at least prove that the remote is transmitting.

Hi KIWIGUY,
Thanks for the good advice. I tried the test with a new Hewlett-Packard digital camera and DID NOT see the diode light in the LCD viewfinder. I did notice the diode light in a different remote though. It showed up as a kind of neon-colored blip on the viewfinder screen; so I guess the transmitter is no good then. I'm surprised because it is relatively new..but inexpensive too. I guess I'll need to replace the remote then.
