Hi folks, I'm back for an msconfig/registry question. What are "Load QM"; "LoadPowerProfile" (Rundll32.exe); "USBMMKBD" and "hideserv.exe run"?
There are 2 loadpowerprofiles and a load qm's in msconfig. There is also an empty check box with nothing written after it. The 2 that have 2 listings is new. I have used msconfig and unchecked these before, now there are 2, with one checked.
Can I just remove them using regedit? ...and how about the one with no writing next to it?
Thanks,

Hi,

You need the two LoadPowerProfiles: LoadPowerProfile Starts Twice When You Start Your Computer

LoaQM is the MS Messenger Quality (or Query) Manager, and you don't need it.

Hidserv.exe is the Human Interface Device Server, it is required only if you are using USB Audio Devices you can disable via Msconfig.

usbmmkbd.exe: USB multimedia keyboard for HP systems. Whilst it's running and whilst your connected to the net it has some privacy issues as it tries to connect to redirect.paviliondownload.com every 5 minutes, to tell HP that you're online and allowing them to gather information based upon the buttons you're using. The side effect of disabling is that all multimedia buttons will cease functioning. The standby, mute and volume control will still work. Your choice!

Good luck,

Thanks guys, I really should have a more organized fav list. About the empty box with no writing next to it? Should I not worry about what it might be? Probably something already deleted.

Rog, it says run= "blank space" and next line, load= "also blank space" I've never run sysedit before. It's all kind of beyond me at this point. I guess as long as that blank space in msconfig remains un-checked and dosn't cause a problem, I won't get concerned about it.
Thanks Rog and Tony for your replies! I've now got start-up list bookmarked so I can check these entries myself first.
